About This Trail

St. Simons Island Bike and Walking Paths form one of the Golden Isles’ most useful outdoor recreation networks, connecting village areas, parks, beach access, historic sites, neighborhoods, and maritime scenery. The path system is a strong fit for casual cyclists, walkers, families, and visitors who want to explore the island without relying only on a car.

The experience changes by segment, with routes passing near live oaks, marsh views, commercial areas, residential streets, parks, and beach approaches. Visitors can plan a short walk near the pier village or a longer island ride using multiple path segments. Because the network interacts with road crossings and popular visitor zones, awareness is important even on paved paths.

Before visiting, choose a route and access point, bring water and sun protection, and use caution at intersections, driveways, and busy areas. Share the path with walkers, cyclists, children, pets, and island traffic.

Trail Notes

St. Simons paths are island transportation and recreation routes with road crossings and mixed visitor traffic. Always leave no trace, pack out everything you pack in, and if you see trash, pick it up and pack it out.

Stay on the marked trail, tell someone where you're going, pack safety and wayfinding essentials, and do not rely only on a mobile phone to find your way. Practice good trail etiquette, yield appropriately on shared-use trails, and check the trailhead kiosk, official maps, park office, refuge office, visitor center, or land manager for notices about changed routes, closures, safety information, fees, wildlife activity, and restrictions before you go.
