About This Trail
Phinizy Swamp Nature Park Trails offer one of the Augusta area’s best wildlife-focused walking and biking destinations. The park includes boardwalks, observation areas, wetland habitat, wooded paths, and open views across a large swamp and riverine landscape near the Savannah River.
The trail system is especially strong for birdwatching, photography, family nature walks, trail running, and relaxed cycling. Visitors can choose short boardwalk segments or link together longer routes through the park’s wetland and upland areas. Because the setting is low, warm, and water-rich, conditions can change with weather, season, and insect activity.
Before visiting, check park hours, trail access, and weather. Bring water, insect protection, and binoculars if wildlife viewing is part of the plan. Stay on marked routes and boardwalks, give wildlife space, and use caution around wet or muddy sections.
Trail Notes
Phinizy Swamp Nature Park includes wetland trails, boardwalks, and observation areas for wildlife viewing. Always leave no trace, pack out everything you pack in, and if you see trash, pick it up and pack it out.
Stay on the marked trail, tell someone where you're going, pack safety and wayfinding essentials, and do not rely only on a mobile phone to find your way. Practice good trail etiquette, yield appropriately on shared-use trails, and check the trailhead kiosk, official maps, park office, or ranger office for notices about changed routes, closures, safety information, fees, and restrictions before you go.
