About This Trail
Tennessee Rock Trail is a signature hike at Black Rock Mountain State Park, offering high-elevation forest, mountain scenery, and wide views from one of Georgia’s highest state parks. The loop is short enough for a half-day outing but includes enough climbing and natural-surface terrain to feel more substantial than an easy nature walk.
The trail is especially appealing for visitors staying near Clayton, Mountain City, or the northeast Georgia mountains. Hikers can expect a mix of wooded walking, rocky or rooty footing, and overlook scenery that changes with season and weather. Because of the elevation, conditions may be cooler, foggier, or windier than surrounding lowlands.
Before visiting, confirm park hours, parking fees, and current trail conditions. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and a layer, and use care around overlooks, damp footing, and steeper sections of the route.
Trail Notes
Tennessee Rock Trail is a mountain loop with forest scenery and overlook views, so expect natural surfaces, changing weather, and some climbing. Wear sturdy shoes, carry water, and use caution near viewpoints or slick sections after rain.
Always leave no trace, pack out everything you pack in, and if you see trash, pick it up and pack it out.
Stay on the marked trail, tell someone where you're going, pack safety and wayfinding essentials, and do not rely only on a mobile phone to find your way. Practice good trail etiquette, yield appropriately on shared-use trails, and check the trailhead kiosk, official maps, park office, or ranger office for notices about changed routes, closures, safety information, fees, and restrictions before you go.
