About This Trail
The North and South Rim Trails at Tallulah Gorge are the classic overlook routes for experiencing one of Georgia’s most dramatic landscapes. Together, the rim trails provide access to multiple viewpoints into the gorge, with views of steep canyon walls, waterfalls, pools, and the suspension bridge far below. They are a strong choice for visitors who want big scenery without committing to a gorge-floor hike.
The trails are moderate because of stairs, grade changes, and the exposed canyon environment, but they are easier to plan than permitted gorge-floor routes. Visitors can hike one rim, combine both sides, or use the overlook system as part of a longer Tallulah Gorge day. The route is especially rewarding for photographers, families with older children, and travelers looking for a memorable North Georgia stop.
Before visiting, check current state park hours, parking fees, trail conditions, and any gorge access advisories. Stay behind railings and barriers, supervise children closely, and use extra caution around stairs, wet surfaces, and crowded overlooks.
Trail Notes
The North and South Rim Trails at Tallulah Gorge offer dramatic canyon views from designated overlooks along both sides of the gorge. Stay behind railings and barriers, supervise children closely, and be prepared for stairs, crowds, and changing weather around exposed viewpoints.
Always leave no trace, pack out everything you pack in, and if you see trash, pick it up and pack it out.
Stay on the marked trail, tell someone where you're going, pack safety and wayfinding essentials, and do not rely only on a mobile phone to find your way. Practice good trail etiquette, yield appropriately on shared-use trails, and check the trailhead kiosk, official maps, park office, or ranger office for notices about changed routes, closures, safety information, fees, and restrictions before you go.
