Lake Chehaw, historically and still widely known as Lake Worth, is a 1,400-acre Georgia Power reservoir formed by the Flint River and Muckalee and Kinchafoonee creeks near Albany.
Lake Chehaw gives anglers a reservoir-style fishing trip with public ramps, shoreline areas, parks, marinas, or nearby day-use access depending on the site. Use GeorgiaOutdoors to compare where to launch, where to fish from shore, and how the lake fits with nearby camping, parks, and outdoor recreation. Before visiting, check current Georgia fishing regulations, local access rules, water levels, ramp conditions, and any managing-agency notices that may affect boating, parking, or seasonal fishing patterns.
Use these at-a-glance details to understand the setting, then build the trip around how your family or group wants to enjoy the water.

These lake-specific notes highlight the recreation that is genuinely available here, along with the limits and practical details that shape a visit.
Visitors can fish year-round from docks on Lake Chehaw or along Muckalee Creek with a current Georgia fishing license. Chehaw also operates a stocked catfish pond from April through October, where no fishing license is required and a five-fish limit applies.
Lake Chehaw supports boating, fishing, skiing, and paddling, with a boat launch and a canoe trail winding through the lake. The setting works well for visitors who want to combine water recreation with the larger Chehaw park complex.
Chehaw offers full-hookup RV sites, tent sites with water and electric service, unlimited primitive camping, and camper cabins. The campground sits within a large pine forest and provides a convenient base for fishing, paddling, the zoo, and other park attractions.
A visit can include lake fishing and boating along with the zoo, splash park, play park, disc golf, picnic areas, and trails. Together, the lake and Chehaw’s broader park facilities make it possible to build a full family day around both outdoor recreation and animal exhibits.
3 published access points can help you choose where to launch, fish, picnic, swim, or begin a day on the water. Confirm current hours, fees, water levels, and ramp conditions before traveling.
