About Riverbend Campground

Settle in beside the Hiawassee River at Riverbend Campground, where former family farmland welcomes RV travelers to Georgia’s Blue Ridge mountains. Riverfront sites, fishing, a pool, and ice cream at the country store invite easygoing days, with Lake Chatuge and mountain adventures nearby.

At Riverbend Campground, a day in the North Georgia mountains can begin with a fishing rod and no particular hurry. The Hiawassee River runs along the campground, putting time on the water within easy reach of your campsite. Cast from the bank, bring your own kayak or canoe for a paddle, or simply pull up a chair and let the afternoon unfold.

Today, the campground has 165 level gravel sites, including riverfront locations and pull-through options, with room for large RVs and motor coaches. Full hookups, 30- and 50-amp service, picnic tables, and campfire rings make settling in straightforward. Two bathhouses and two laundry facilities handle the practical side of a longer visit, and each site has its own dedicated connections for internet access.

Some days, the campground itself may be enough. There is a pool for an afternoon swim, a playground for the children, and a country store where a stop for bait or firewood can turn into an ice-cream break. Covered pavilions and a clubhouse with a kitchen provide room to gather over a meal—a welcome feature for families traveling together or friends arriving in separate rigs.

When the mountains call you farther afield, make a day of Lake Chatuge, take in the views from Bell Mountain, or head for Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest peak. Hiawassee’s shops, restaurants, and entertainment offer other reasons to venture out. Then return to your own picnic table, supper at camp, and another evening beside the river.

Open year-round and welcoming pets, Riverbend leaves room for both kinds of vacation: the one filled with outings and the one where you are perfectly content to stay put.
