About Black Rock Mountain State Park

A state park campground in Mountain City with water/electric sites, 30/50 amp service, WiFi, bathhouse facilities.

Black Rock Mountain State Park gives campers a true mountaintop escape in Mountain City, where Georgia’s highest state park rises to 3,640 feet on the Eastern Continental Divide. Campsites are tucked among rhododendron and gnarled oaks, with walk-in and backcountry sites offering extra privacy and bear boxes available for food storage. Visitors can take in sweeping Blue Ridge views from roadside overlooks, explore four hiking trails through wildflowers, streams, small waterfalls, and forest, or stop by the summit visitor center for views, gifts, and picnic tables. The park’s small lake is a peaceful spot for fishing and an easy walking trail circles the water. Because of the high elevation, the park is often cooler than other Georgia parks and may close during icy weather; campers with vehicles or trailers over 25 feet should not attempt the steep, winding access road.
